Here we go… we’re taking the plunge!

Élizabeth and I have known each other since 2016. We met when I was looking to “lease” a horse (a half-lease, for those in the equestrian world). I had only just reconnected with that passion, and I wanted to live it on a regular basis (a very regular basis) without having to buy a horse (if you’re wondering why I didn’t want to buy a horse, I explain it here!).

One thing led to another—or rather, from Marketplace to equestrian Facebook groups, and even the listings on the Poney Express website—life brought Élizabeth and her beautiful Yankee onto my path. And as we say in English: “The rest is history”!

Between equestrian activities and tastings of Italian poutines; moments that were sometimes funny, sometimes frustrating, sometimes sad, a no-frills friendship grew. She picked me up a few times when I was down… and I listened to her rant about the injustices of this world. We encouraged each other more often than not—true cheerleaders, the real deal!

And then one day, Élizabeth said to me: “What if you and I started a business? I feel like we’d make a great duo.” And I said yes!

On my side, I’d already explored a few possibilities, and I’d even started writing an ebook (curious what my ebook is about? click here!). But I was stuck—I was missing an ingredient in my recipe.

Since the famous pandemic, a phenomenon has spread (or accelerated?) even faster than the virus: disconnection. Disconnection from ourselves, from others, from nature, and so on. It even highlighted weaknesses in my life and pushed me to pull my head out of the sand and face what was no longer working. In short, after taking stock of what needed to change, repair, or rebuild, I understood that some of my projects would benefit from being brought to life as a team of two.

Élizabeth, for her part, carries the dream of a balanced family life—especially one close to nature (and horses!), with the goal of thriving without the traditional constraints of an office job (and everything that comes with it).

And that’s how La Bouée Digitale was born! A website that offers digital tools to simplify life, resources to inspire, and even a podcast—fully authentic. All of it rooted in our experiences and in what we use ourselves every day.
